Why Electronics with Bluetooth and WiFi are a health concern.

Why Electronics with Bluetooth and WiFi are a health concern.

WaveBlock has addressed EMF issues for earbuds and cell phones. Now we're rolling out iPad and laptop safety. Bluetooth is the issue! While using tablets, iPads or laptops it's important to consider their safety information. Many people today wonder if it's safe to use bluetooth tablet technology and there is a growing body of evidence that they can be harmful to your health. Like cell phones and earbuds, tablets and laptops must be approached with awareness and caution.

Similar to cellphones and earbuds, iPads, laptops and tablets emit microwave radiation. Wireless devices emit constant bursts of electric and magnetic fields known as EMF's, which are invisible areas of energy. These are also referred to as radiation and are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural or artificial radiation.

WaveBlock is on a mission to educate the public about safety issues regarding electronic devices. Be sure to read the  FCC safety warnings in wireless devices that state the consumer should be a specified distance away from the device to ensure the radiation levels do not exceed FCC limits. The iPad user manual says, “Orient the device with the cellular antenna (located under the black edge at the top of the device) away from your body or other objects…“ to avoid exceeding FCC standards. Similarly, other tablet models advise “avoiding direct contact with the transmitting antenna” and/or placing “the antenna away from your body.”

What do Doctors say regarding exposure to this type of radiation?

In a few words - have limited exposure! The American Academy of Pediatrics warns of children’s greater vulnerability to wireless radiation and suggests reducing or limiting exposure. As kids hold tablets on their laps, the radiation penetrates into their organs. Connections between radiation and autism and ADHD have led to doctors advocating for reduced exposure in schools.

The fact that some European countries prohibit the use of wifi in kindergartens and nurseries was the impetus for WaveBlock's founder to develop safety measures for his kids that are now available for everyone.  EMF exposure, while representing greater vulnerability in children, also has similar potential negative repercussions for adults.

A published review of effects of Wi-Fi radiation entitled, “Wi-Fi is an important threat to human health” found that “it follows from these various findings that the placement of Wi-Fi into schools around the country may well be a high level threat to the health of our children as well as being a threat to teachers…”

EMF radiation can cause serious negative effects.

Peer reviewed studies highlight various potential problems from increased headaches and sleep issues to reproduction.  Studies have shown that Wi-Fi radiation damages sperm, even at very low doses.   They're concerned about the potential negative health effects after years of daily exposure to EMF's, especially for children.

Can we live without electronic devices?

WaveBlock understands that we live in a time when we cannot eliminate the use of technology. It's here to stay, and it's made our lives much easier in many ways. Our goal is to create methods and products that minimize the exposure to EMF's. From cell phones to earbuds to laptops, we're developing innovative ways to ensure the safety of everyone. As technology continues to evolve, so will our research and products.

What can help minimize the exposure to EMF's?

    1.  Connect to the ethernet directly instead of using Wi-Fi.
    2.  Operate devices in "Airplane Mode" and set Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other antennas to "OFF."
    3.  Avoid placing devices on your lap.
    4. Set the wireless settings  to "OFF" when not accessing the internet.
    5. Minimize use in cars, elevators, trains, and buses. Devices work harder to get signals through metal, so the power level increases.
    6.  Install WaveBlock's iBlock for iPads and soon to be released mBlock for MacBooks. Join our waitlist here!
